What is Artefact Avenger?
A number of groundbreaking discoveries reshaped the archeological world in the twentieth century with artefacts from all corners of the globe stolen for museums and private collections. Taking matters into her own hands, historian Inzel Santos has begun returning these artefacts to where they rightfully belong. Using your grappling whip, swing past guards, roaming cameras and traps to retrieve artefacts from a private collection to return to an Aztec temple in this vintage 2D adventure puzzle platformer.
For Artifact Avenger I was tasked with making the level and UI
For the first level the idea was that you were making your way through a warehouse, packed to the brim with boxes and full of security cameras that you had to avoid. To make the grapple whip useful, i added a lot of sections with big gaps inbetween, that you would otherwise be unable to jump across, forcing you to swing.
I also made chokepoints that were covered by cameras, meaning you had to think about when to move past them, and you couldn't just swing over then or run past, instead having to wait for an opening as the camera pans.
There were also designs for a second level that takes place in a aztec temple, that would not have modern things like cameras, but instead have puzzles and traps.
As well as working on the level, i also made the journal UI, which served as a collection of the artefacts you can find. factual/educational information about the artefact is written under its image, as they were based on real aztec artefacts.
